She came out of her den right away and was extremely hungry, devouring the treats we gave which broke our hearts to see. With six little babies to care for, Mama was fighting for more than her own survival. We scooped up the whole family and hurried back to the Animal Aid, and for this beautiful mama, getting rest and good food was as important as her daily wound care. She was utterly exhausted after having fought so hard to stay alive and find food for her babies for so many days.
She slept deeply for the first 2 days after rescue and we made sure she got extra food and care while her babies happily nursed away. She healed beautifully within just a few weeks, and we found a caring neighbor who stepped forward and agreed to take care of the family in their courtyard, keeping the family safe and well fed. Our Street Treatment team regularly checks up on the mama and family who are doing great, and once the babies are old enough, we will bring mama in to be spayed.
