Three of her legs were injured when a vehicle hit this gorgeous little puppy.

The worst was Cassie’s hind-leg fracture, but three paws were ripped open and her innocent little face expressed anguish. She couldn’t move but sat alert, upright, terrified. We lifted her as slowly and gently as possible. She cried at first, but then her yelps were replaced by something even sadder–a quiet, almost frozen resignation to terrible pain.

We gave her pain medicine immediately upon arrival in the hospital and began the soothing bandaging and splinting process. Bound with her mystifying new white stockings, little Cassie refused to eat. At first! But on our second try, she’d thought about it a little and must have heard and seen other dogs eating, so she let her hunger win out, and ate heartily. We were thrilled of course, and this ushered in the coming weeks of her healing. Meet playful, happy, silly Cassie now!
