She was completely disoriented and couldn’t support her body.

We thought, at first, Elsie had a broken neck. But although this fragile girl had suffered a head injury, we were relieved to find that her neck was not actually broken. And because Elsie was young, she was supple, and the stress from the impact did not permanently disable her.

But Elsie’s motor skills and strength had been knocked out of her, and her right eye was seriously damaged from the horrible collision of a vehicle to her head. Our protocol for head injuries requires several weeks of bed rest, and Elsie seemed to agree.
